You need to be prepared for retirement, especially if you’re within 10 years of making the big jump. Here are some helpful hints for making this huge transition.
Decide what’s important
This is the time to have hopes and dreams discussions and answer important questions, such as:
- What age do you want to retire?
- What would you like to do with your life when working is no longer a priority?
- Can you live off of what you’ve saved?
- What cash flow do you have coming in?
How to handle market drops
Surging stock markets are easy to appreciate, but do you know how to handle market drops and volatility? People might see $1 million in their retirement account and feel secure, but you need to know what will come out in taxes and how to handle market fluctuations.
Check in on health care
Do you have a plan for health care when you retire? It can be hard to navigate the health care system. When you do onto Medicare, don’t assume you’re going to get long-term care with that.
On today’s show, we’ll also talk about changing needs during retirement and what to do if you want to retire early. Listen to the full episode or use the timestamps below to jump to a certain section. Thanks for listening.
